Whitney Thompson; Plus-size supermodel, spokesperson for NEDA and creator of "Supermodel".

My goal is to encourage and inspire you to celebrate your miraculous, exquisite, and unique body. I want you to resist the negative messages being sold to you by the media. You are beautiful. You are unique. Here, we want to help you remember that.

If I can convey one message to you:
Healthy is Beautiful. Beautiful is not a size, not an age, and not a procedure. Healthy is beautiful."

“Beautiful” is celebrating the characteristics and qualities of your body, while nourishing and exercising
it to be as uniquely healthy and fit as only you can be. We are all created differently and I want you to stop trying to fit into a mold that someone else has defined as "beautiful". No one size will ever be accepted by everyone and it's important to accept that we are all different. I want you to be the best that you can be.

Your comments are welcome here, even if we don't agree. I appreciate all comments as long as they don't hurt others.

Always remember, life is too short to not live like a SuperModel!

Finally...a satisfying fashion week.

Dress by Adrianna Papell

I was completely blown away by todays show! It is by far the greatest runway show that I have seen thus far in the plus industry. All of the runway models were from Wilhelmina (the agency that I’m with) and they were phenomenal. Of course, the clothes were fantastic too. There were a lot of sheers and layering that brought out dimension. If I had to change one thing, it would be that the heels weren’t high enough. I expected the girls to be in platforms but the shoes were about 3 and a half inches high, which I think is low, but everything else was gorgeous.
Caroline from The Real Housewives of New Jersey was there and I got to speak with her for a couple minutes. She was really lovely and sweet. I wish I could have spoken to her more, but people were pulling me in all directions. One person was taking me to the green room while another was trying to get shots of me with Gabby Sidibe and then another was dragging me to my seat. I did get some shots with Emme, though and I just adore her. She had on a beautiful pale green dress and resembled a modern statue of liberty. It was nice to see so many people turn out for the first plus size show to ever run at New York Fashion Week. Everyone was so supportive and it really made me proud to be plus sized.
One thing that I did notice is that most of the celebrities in the front row were plus sized, but they were actually larger than a size fourteen (the national average) whereas, on the runway the models were plus sized, but they were more like my size which is an eight to ten. I wish that the modeling world was more like the TV/Film world where you can be a little bit bigger without being labeled as such and you can be over average and then be considered plus. I’m not sure if I’m making any sense with this. There are lots of women on TV who are tiny too but take Patricia Heaton (the wife on Everybody Loves Raymond), she is totally normal and healthy and her character on the show is the same way, but in fashion, she is plus sized. I don’t know. It doesn’t add up. All I’m saying is that anything size fourteen and under is not plus sized and that’s that.
Oh, yeah! And while I was at JFK I was shopping for a new book to read and I saw Nigel Barker’s new book “Beauty Equation” and he had two pictures of me in it! I thought that was really cool because it was totally unexpected to see that book at all and now I know that my face is in Hudson Bookstores all over (though I’m definitely not on the cover or anything...it’s still pretty neat).
